MOVIEPILOT – Now, when it comes to the swirling galaxy of rumors that currently surrounds Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, it’s been pretty tricky to keep track of just what we’re reportedly set to see in the upcoming pants-wettingly-exciting movie.

There have, after all, been so many rumors – often conflicting ones – that even beginning to pull them together into a coherent idea of what we’ll see is a pretty darned monumental task – especially since we have no way of knowing if any of them are even true.

Except, of course, for that fact that…

J.J. Abrams Totally Just Confirmed That Some of the Star Wars Episode VII Rumors are True.

That’s right – while speaking at the Irish Oscar Wilde awards in Los Angeles, Abrams, Abrams revealed to the BBC that some of the widely-circulating rumors regarding the film’s plot are indeed true. The only problem? He didn’t specify which ones…

“There are a ton of rumours – some true, some false. But I’m grateful for everyone who would want to read a spoiler because it means that they care and want to see the movie…I know what it feels like, as an enormous Star Wars fan myself.”

And, so, because that level of complete and utter uncertainty is inevitably going to lead to a major disturbance in the force (of will it takes to patiently wait until December 18 arrives), here are Moviepilot’s best guesses as to just which rumors J.J. is implying are true, and which ones are way, way out there.

So, we reckon…

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY – There’s been no shortage of rumors about the character played by Daisy Ridley, but even the name being used in that speculation—Kira—has now been proven false. All we have at this point is her first name, Rey, so… maybe we’ll find out eventually whether her surname reveals deeper family connections.

WIRED – Star Wars is just days away from returning to the big screen—or at least the trailer is.

Ending weeks of speculation, Lucasfilm confirmed today that what is being called “an early 88-second tease” for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will run in select theaters over the holiday weekend before heading to all theaters in December.

Confirmation actually came slightly earlier than intended, when the Regal Theaters chain accidentally posted details for its nine theater screenings online Monday morning before swiftly removing the post and replacing it with an image of Mon Mothma, revealing that many Bothans had died to bring us this information.

The trailer will run from Friday through Sunday in the following 30 locations:

Of course, now that we know where and when we can see the trailer, it’s time to start wondering what we’ll see when we show up. There are at least two distinct rumors circulating, suggesting we’ll either see very little beyond the familiar logo and maybe a glimpse of the Millennium Falcon in flight or perhaps it’ll just be a lot of quick-cut shots of the new cast with little context. Are either true? We should know in just a few days.
