KOREA TIMES – Long-time Hollywood movie franchise “Star Wars” is rolling out its seventh installment, “Episode VII: The Force Awakens,” on Dec.17 and Korean fans will get the chance to meet its stars before the opening.

Movie director J. J. Abrams and actors Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Adam Driver will greet fans on December 9.

Abrams had hinted at the Korean visit while attending the Busan International Film Festival in October, raising fans’ anticipation.

Besides a press conference, the director and stars will participate in a question-and-answer session with fans.

George Lucas created the epic “Star Wars” in 1977. The latest installment is set 30 years after the previous episode, “Return of the Jedi,” made in 1983.

Yesterday (November 18), Daisy posed with the cast of The West End’s “Kinky Boots” at the Adelphi Theatre in London.

DEADLINE – Not long from now, in a studio not far, far away… Jimmy Kimmel will do a special dedicated to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Disney-owned ABC said today that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will focus its November 23 show on the upcoming Disney movie, and welcome director J.J. Abrams and stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and John Boyega. No mention of that “other” trio from the original trilogy who are returning for this seventh flick in the Star Wars universe. In anticipation of the film and the JKL special Kimmel and his co-horts sported Star Wars costumes for Halloween. Bummer if someone actually was relegated to carbon-frozen Han Solo duty.

Expect the movie’s marketing attack to hit full Force in the weeks leading up the film’s December 18 launch. The final trailer that launched last week was consumed in light speed, scoring 112 million views in its first 24 hours. Meanwhile, advance ticket sales are exploding like Alderaan, with online vendors reporting record-shattering business after an October 19 start that was so huge it clogged many sites. For those of you who can’t wait for the movie, now’s a good time to stock up on the merch — including mascara, dog collars, cat toys and a Millennium Falcon children’s bed for a cool 4,000 Galactic credits.
